Mission Veterinary Emergency And Specialty

Don’t bring your pet here. Over the years myself, friends, and family have had issues with this hospital. This is the worst thing they’ve ever done to me. They withheld my girl from me before her death. I’m chronically ill and homebound – if I had had the ability to take my cat Gia to Olathe or Bluepearl I would have. But this was emergent – I didn’t have a choice. My 12 year old cat that I’d had since her birth was very sick. I’d tried multiple antibiotics, special foods, even giving her fluids under her skin at home. She was not getting better. My vet ran a new set of labs and her numbers were awful. He told me to get her to the vet hospital ASAP. She needed a constant IV and 24/7 monitoring. I staid in contact with the vets over the phone at every opportunity they had. They had her for three days. Her numbers didn’t improve – her kidneys were failing, she had infections – if somehow we did get her kidneys working again her quality of life would have been horrible.. Then she had the seizure. Now a risk of cancer was involved. On July 23rd 2026 I talked with the vet at 9 in the morning at length about my girl’s options. I hung up the phone – burst into tears – and called Laps of Love while I was still crying. Because of my illnesses I needed her to be with me at home when she was put down. At this point it has been three days since I’d held Gia. At 10:30 am I called back and explained to the vet AND the front desk three different time that Gia had a Laps of Love appointment to be put down at 1pm. My roommate and mother would be there to square the bill and pick her up at noon so I could have an hour with her beforehand. I also asked that she be given whatever medication would keep her comfortable and pain-free for that hour before she was picked up. My mother and roommate were ten minutes late because of a flat tire. At 12:10pm my roommate went in for Gia. No one would get her. He asked and told them multiple times that he needed to get her to me before her appointment. Reminded them over and over that she was being put down. Still nothing, still no explanation. They have some sort of sign that says something like “We don’t tolerate aggressive patrons.” So he was doing his best to stay calm and continue to ask for Gia to be handed over. When they FINALLY gave her to him they made him pay for extra medication that she didn’t need because she was being PUT DOWN. Her appointment was at 1pm – Gia did not make it home to me until 1:30pm. The Laps of Love Doctor was so nice and gave me as much time with her as she could before her next appointment. So instead of being with my girl for an hour before her death: I got seven minutes. I called a few hours later and talked to Supervisor Karen about what had happened; she sounded sincere when she told me she was sorry. She said the medication price would be refunded and she would look into what happened. I never heard from her again. I called multiple times, left messages with staff, left messages on answering machines. One front desk employee even got huffy with me, saying “Is this just in regards to your issues with our discharge process?” Eventually I went to the Contact Us page of their website. Someone from their upper management in another state emailed me back. Said he was sorry for what happened. He also told me that, despite the many conversations I had with the vet and front desk, no one noted down the time of her euthanasia appointment. Then he said the discharge process takes time. 10:30am to 12:10pm is plenty of time, especially when I made sure to arrange it with the vet treating Gia. Then he never responded to me again either. Unless this hospital gets an overhaul – don’t take your pets there.

This emergency veterinarian hospital is close to my home when others are out of the way. They give excellent care I recommend them to anyone for your beloved pets care. If you feel your furbabies deserve the best emergency care I recommend them highly. 10/30/26 They as always take great care of all of my pets. I have a kitten that needed their emergency care and they immediately got her seen and gave me a goo report on her recovery. ❤️‍🩹

I was surprised by the $200 consultation fee that didn’t even last 5minutes. That’s why I am giving it one star. It was incredibly expensive for a consultation, especially since I was already referred by my primary vet for my dog’s surgery.

Thank you for taking such good care of my kitty boy Max!🥰🥰🥰🥰
