Although receptionist Morgan is TERRIFIC, after two visits with Dr Jennifer McDermott, we will never return to Murlen Animal Clinic.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We recently moved to the area and were looking for a new vet. Murlen Animal Clinic came recommended several times in a local Facebook group. I was a little hesitant after seeing a few recent Google reviews, but after calling around and comparing prices, I decided to give them a try—and I’m so glad I did!
We saw Dr. Rachel Chall, and she was wonderful with our dog. The entire staff was friendly, patient, and respectful. Our Cane Corso/Pitbull mix gets very excited around other animals, and they even checked the hallways before walking him through, which I really appreciated.
A special shoutout to Brielle at the front desk! She was incredibly personable and professional, wonderful with our dog, and even took the time to help me with a few other things since we’re new to the area. She really made us feel welcome.
They answered all my questions, explained our options, provided clear price breakdowns, and their pricing was very reasonable compared with other vets I contacted.
Most importantly, they were incredibly kind and loving with our big guy. We had a wonderful experience and are so glad we chose Murlen! ❤️🐾
I took my cats here for years and was always satisfied with the service. Dr. Thompson and Toni were amazing! I have 6 cats (used to have more) and was as regular a customer as they had. Then came the regime change. Where 6 months prior they charged $250 to neuter, they now wanted $500. Same building, same services, but a new owner, and double the price. There was one face I recognized behind the counter, Brandon, whom I have had issue with previously. I asked about the price increase. He explained that now they require blood work prior to any procedure, and opined that it wouldn't be ethical to do otherwise. How condescending! Funny, too, because Brandon didn't have any ethical objections under the previous vet, but as the newly promoted Practice Manager, he had a sudden change of heart! How's that for ethical? Sellout!! It's nothing but an outright price gouge, and they should be ashamed of themselves. I found a new vet after that, and if you are reading this, I recommend you do the same. Also, you should disregard any of the comments posted here that are more than 18 months old, under the previous owners. Then you'll really get a feel for how crappy this practice has become. If you are a cat owner, try Cat Clinic of Johnson County. They are kind, caring, respectful, and very thorough. Can't say any of those things for the new iteration of Murlen Animal Clinic.
We lost our 15 year old diabetic boy about a week ago, and once again, these amazing people did not disappoint in a time our family was in crisis. Dr. McDermott went above and beyond, even running from her car into the clinic to help, knowing every second counted as our dog was desperately struggling for air. She, Emma, and Brandon all jumped in and worked on him with meticulous care for two days before we ultimately lost him because his body just couldn't fight anymore. Our family cannot say thank you enough to the amazing Mur-Len team. The entire staff are incredibly kind people who display in action their dedication to the well being of our furry family members.
The new ownership is terrible. They don’t greet you when you come in. They don’t return calls. The only person who talks to you is their stupid robot that calls you to schedule appointments. They don’t seem to even want customers. I miss having a good vet so close to my house. Oh. And they seem to only try to upcharge. Like they protested to doing one noninvasive test first (stool sample) and instead wanted me to drag my cat in for a blood panel before we ruled out parasites.
I walked the stool sample in a week ago. I think they stubbornly decided just not to run it bc I haven’t gotten ahold of them in a week and they’re closed hours early today when I decided to just go in and check in person.
